Whenever I am meeting people in normal life settings like parties, job interviews or simply in a bar and whenever I am NOT traveling on Vespa they ask me similiar questions! It seems that in most people´s life these are the important questions:
What is your job?
What kind of car do you have?
Where do you live?
Do you have a house or a condo?
Do you have a company ?
Are you married ?
Do you have children ?
Are these the important questions in life ? At least in Germany it seems so.
I don’t give a damn what someone works for, because it says nothing about what kind of person he is. There are bad policemen, contemptuous doctors and stupid teachers.
I don’t give a damn what kind of car or moped you have, because almost all vehicles out there on the road and especially the expensive ones belong to some shitty bank.
You have a house or a condo ? Bravo your ass belongs to a bank for the next 20-30 years !
You have a company ? Well, I can register a business tomorrow and call myself boss. That’s a good one!
Are you married or in a relationship? Cool – you have a 70% chance of being cheated on.
Do you have children? Yes ? Congratulations! You knew how to have unprotected sex and you will pay for it with your life.
I say all this on purpose a bit provocative and pointed, but de facto people in our society ask more and more the wrong questions and evaluate your opposite according to wrong criteria (if you should evaluate someone at all).
I am now back for 14 months in Germany (although many other countries tick so) and feel a little bit as if I am a part in the wrong movie.
So to the above questions :
I am a student and without a job or company.
I have no wife or ex-wife and no children that I know of.
My car is a 32 year old bus that rattles and clatters and is not allowed into most major cities in Europe.
This car was also my “house” after the world trip, but currently I live with my father.
So after the above questions I must be the complete looser, right ?!
Maybe We should ask different questions!
Well, let’s try it with some more relevant questions:
Do you do what you love?
Have you experienced anything interresting?
Are you free and without debts?
Do you have someone you love and respect?
What are you burning for?
Are you a good person?
Do you think only of yourself or of others?
Are you funny?
Think about with whom you would rather have a coffee or a relationship or a friendship ?
The chavvy manager with Porsche, who cheats on his second wife in his vacation home, because he is totally unhappy and bored in his job and only thinks about himself.
Or maybe rather a colorful bird who prefers to do something for others than for himself and has little money but a lot of passion and stories and who makes people laugh.
Those were weekend thoughts and now I go for a coffee .
Please think about it!
